Why Ultrasound Matters
A positive test tells you you’re likely pregnant, but only an ultrasound can confirm key details like:
- Viability – Is the pregnancy developing and in the uterus?
- Gestational age – How far along are you?
- Heartbeat – Is there cardiac activity?
- Ectopic pregnancy – Is the pregnancy occurring outside the uterus?
These scans are quick, safe, and provide valuable information—especially if you’re considering abortion. Many women find they’re further along than they realized. If you’re more than 11 weeks, have certain health conditions, or have an ectopic pregnancy, you may not be eligible for the abortion pill. That’s why an ultrasound is such a crucial step.
Taking the abortion pill without confirming pregnancy location and viability can be dangerous—particularly if the pregnancy is ectopic.
If the Pregnancy Isn’t Viable
